It's a good time to pray for terrorist
victims!
Since the Board of Education will no longer be
providing video-taping for cablecast (effective
July, 2002), suspended delivery of the "Molalla
River Reporter" and stopped communication with
the "Educational Ambassadors" (September, 2002)
I have tried to provide information regarding
education concerns for interested persons:
Want more? Pay more.
A simple philosophy of allowing
those who want more from government
to pay more...read

Searching actively for grant funding
to support technology development in the district;
Developing a district media center for
more rapid access to materials; and
Changing library roles to that of an
access point for media materials of all kinds.
Adequate Funding
Our plans for the future are based on the
assumption that adequate funding will be available for all schools in Oregon.As
a society it is important that we begin to place the education of
our young
people at the top our social agenda.Strategies
to reach this goal include:
Global/Cultural
Understanding
Because
the global economy is impacting Molalla businesses, it is
essential that our students learn more about different languages
and world cultures.With today’s
technology,
we can directly communicate with people of
different countries. To
achieve this goal, we will:
Formation
of a grassroots citizens’ lobbying group to keep our legislators
informed about educational needs;
Promote
corporate/business partnerships;
Initiate
student-run businesses which provide funding for programs as
well as compensation and experience for students.
Technology
We believe that technology is an important
component in the future direction of the Molalla River School
District. Important visions for the future of technology include:
Networking of all classrooms within the district;
Incorporating new technology as it becomes available;
Extensive staff training in the use of technology and applications in
the classroom;
Changing teachers’ roles to that of
technology facilitators;
Begin bilingual education in Spanish at
the primary level;
Foster Japanese Sister City
exchange;
Offer Internet access to all
district schools;
Offer international business
apprenticeships;
Expand foreign exchange
opportunities; and
conduct cross-cultural
celebration
The
Next Step
Smaller
action committees are forming to further develop strategies for each vision
theme.From this point, an action plan and ongoing time line will be
formed to implement the themes.
If you could lend your time and
expertise to this mission, please contact Molalla River School
District Superintendent Wayne
Kostur, 839-2359.
