Term: transceiver
Definition: The device that connects the transceiver cable to the Ethernet coaxial cable. The transceiver is used to transmit and receive data. For a 10BASE5 802.3 (Ethernet), the specific device that allows connection of a NIC with an AUI interface with a 15 conductor cable to the 802.3 coaxial backbone.
