Term: peripheral node
Definition: A node that uses local addresses for routing and therefore is not affected by changes in network addresses. A peripheral node requires boundary-function assistance from an adjacent subarea node. A peripheral node is a type 1, 2.0, or 2.1 node connected to a subarea node with boundary function within a subarea.
