Term:
key notarization
Definition:
a method for encrypting information at a terminal site
before transmission to a host computer, over communications
media that might not be secure. It is necessary for the
host and the terminal to maintain the same encryption key
and algorithm. This is frequently accomplished by
downloading (sending information) from the host to the
terminal on key changes. The downloaded information must
also be encrypted.
