Term: fiber optic medium attachment unit (FOMAU)
Definition: the portion of the physical layer between the FOMDI and AUI (or repeater unit physical layer signaling [PLS] when the AUI is not implemented) which contains the electronics that transmit, recieve, and manage the encoded signals impressed on, and recovered from, theoptical fiber cable link segment.
