Glossary of Data Communications Terms

Term: CTS/RTS
Definition: (clear to send)/(request to send); RS-232 signals send from the receiving station to the transmitting station that incidates it is ready to accept (CTS) or send (RTS) data. Typically, a means of hardware flow control. See also, flow control. Contrast with XON/XOFF.
