Term:
application interface
Definition:
A set of software routines and associated conventions that
permits application programmers to use that interface as a
part of any application. In general, an application
interface is used to access system or networking services
that would other wise require significant development
effort to create from scratch. For example, the Btrieve
application interface lets a programmer use Btrieve file
structures and services within an application. See also
application programming interface.
