Term: application interface
Definition: A set of software routines and associated conventions that permits application programmers to use that interface as a part of any application. In general, an application interface is used to access system or networking services that would other wise require significant development effort to create from scratch. For example, the Btrieve application interface lets a programmer use Btrieve file structures and services within an application. See also application programming interface.
