It's a good time to pray for victims of September 11, 2001 terrorist activities!

Term: advanced peer-to-peer networking (APPN)
Definition: An extension to SNA featuring (a) greater distributed network control that avoids critical hierarchical dependencies, thereby isolating the effects of single points of failure; (b) dynamic exchange of network topology information to foster ease of connection and reconfiguration, adaptive route selection, and simplified network definition; (c) automated resource registration and directory lookup. APPN extends the LU 6.2 peer orientation for end-user services to network control; APPC also uses LU 6.2 protocols on its own control point sessions that provide the network control.
